ARCHBOLD – Jacob Grime says the highlight of his service to the church was World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada in 2002. He and wife, Meredith, co-leaders of the St. Peter youth group helped chaperone eight students from the parish.

He is lector, eucharistic minister, usher, and served on the fund-raising committee when a new parish hall was being built. Active in the Knights of Columbus, he served as past Grand Knight. He has organized a religious appreciation dinner for area priests, nuns and deacons in addition to civic involvements.

He credits Fathers Clement Alt, Milton Ballar, Joe Przybysz and current pastor, Gary Ferguson, with being good role models in the way they lived their faith. Credits also go to his parents, he says, for the "good example they set in their marriage." Jason and Helen Row, fellow parishioners, have been good role models, answering questions about faith and sharing ministry with him.

One to be moved by the Spirit, he gave up his bowling night when Rita Kruse, director of religious education, asked him to teach CCD and has found teaching religious education classes reinforces his own faith. "I am really touched when students ask questions and want to know more."

Rita Kruse says, "Jake is a great influence on young people and is very open about sharing his faith and what it means to him."
